Can Indian Country be far behind? Historical evidence suggests that dental disease was rare among American Indians and Alaska Natives (AI/ANs) in the early 20th century. Today, AI/ANs have more untreated tooth decay and gum disease than any other population group, due to socioeconomic status, changes in diet, lack of preventive programs, and simply not enough dental professionals to meet the huge backlog of untreated disease.

    Obese Teens at Increased Risk of Gallstones Compared to teens at healthy weights, obese teens are much more like to develop gallstones—hard, pebble-like deposits that form inside the gallbladder ranging from the size of a sand grain to a golf ball, reported BBC News. Most stones are made of cholesterol, although their existence has no connection to cholesterol levels in the blood.
