Rare Conjoined Gray Whale Calves Found off Coast of Mexico
Fisherman found two conjoined gray whales off the coast of Baja, California, the Mexican government told the Associated Press. The rare claves died shortly after being born.
They were linked at the waist, with two full heads and tail fins, said marine biologist Benito Bermudez, who is a scientist with the National Natural Protected Areas Commission, or CONANP, said the AP. He said that scientists were collecting skin, muscle and baleen samples to study them.
