Pego elected Tribal chief
Incumbent Steven Pego, one of five sitting members returned to the Tribal Council for a two-year term in November elections, was elected chief of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe on Tuesday.
Pego will serve as chief for the 2013-15 term of Tribal Council.
“It is truly an honor to be selected to serve as Tribal Chief for my Anishinaabe Tribal community,” Peters said after the vote. “I will do everything in my power to ensure we all collectively work for what is in the best interest of the Tribe.”
