    Deputy Assistant Secretary Roberts Updates Spirit Lake Community on BIA Actions Addressing Tribe’s Child Safety and Protection Issues On February 27, Deputy Assistant Secretary – Indian Affairs Lawrence S. Roberts informed members of the Spirit Lake Reservation in North Dakota that, “protecting children must be our highest priority.” Roberts, was on the reservation to personally report on efforts the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) has taken to-date to address child safety and protection issues on the reservation.
